Sorry just seen this. To add for anyone who doesn’t know, Claudia Sheinbaum, president of Mexico, is confident that Trump won’t invade Mexico.
President Claudio Sheinbaumn is confident that nothing of that sort will happen in Mexico. She said:
“There will be nothing of the sort in Mexico; that’s President Trump’s way of speaking. We have a relationship based on cooperation and collaboration, not subordination. We have always said no to these of operations,” the president said at her daily press conference.
Sheinbaum said she was keeping a “cool head,” refused to respond to provocations and referred to the security agreement Mexico signed with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in September 2025: “It guides our actions on both sides of the border; each country has its own tasks to accomplish on its own territory.”

Trump didn’t bypass the barriers of Congress. He isn’t actually required to notify them before a strike. He has to tell them as soon as possible after. Which he did. He didn’t tell them before that he planned to abduct Maduro because he believed Congress would leak the plans and they had to be very secret. This mission wouldn’t have succeeded if just one person had whispered to Maduro “Make sure you can’t be abducted by helicopter”.
Mexico is different because it is a close ally of the USA. It works closely with the US administration on immigration control. There are numerous political reasons also economic too that make it different.
On oil to Cuba, then Mexico has already greatly reduced its exports to Cuba though not stopped all the oil.
No this is nothing to do with the Bible. There is nothing in the Bible about oil - they didn’t start commercial use of oil until the second half of the nineteenth century and though they did know about oil seeps before then they didn’t make much use of it.
There is nothing about North America.
And this idea of things being end times leads to people making impossible connections. It is impossible for even modern wars with more powerful weapons or even nukes to lead to anything like the end times stories in the Bible.
You don’t need to take the Book of Revelation literally indeed it doesn’t even work taken literally. Some things are just impossible and surely were meant for imagination and inspiration rather than real things.
And remember Pope Francis believed in a wholly peaceful return of Jesus.
There is nothing natural can do it.
A nuclear war would NOT end humanity, at most that’s a few hundred million and the entire southern hemisphere would be spared as would be all countries except those involved.
So the book of Revelation is NOT predicting a nuclear war and there is no religious reason to expect one
Pope Francis said it can be wholly peaceful and that is his belief, once the work of the church is done.
I don’t mean that Pope Francis had a prophetic vision. Rather, this is about how he says it could unfold according to his understanding of the Bible.
This is based on the passage in the Bible:
“The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper’s nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”
“— Isaiah 11:6-9”
That is in the future. It obviously hasn’t happened yet and Jews see this as the world after their Messiah arrives.
Christians have to interpret that passage too and Pope Frances sees that as our future too.
Pope Francis put it like this:
“God is preparing a new dwelling place and a new earth where justice will abide, and whose blessedness will answer and surpass all the longings for peace which spring up in the human heart.”
“More than a place, it is a state of the soul where our deepest aspirations will be fulfilled with abundance.”
He said “It’s beautiful to think about this, isn’t it, to think about heaven. All of us will be there, all of us. It’s beautiful and gives us strength.”…
[About questions about the end times]
No one knows the answer to those questions, the pope said Wednesday at his weekly general audience, but Catholics are convinced that the end of time will not bring the “annihilation of the cosmos and of everything around us.”
God’s plan, he said, is to renew everything in Christ and “bring everything to its fullness of being, truth and beauty.”
So he also is describing a future of great peace not unlike the Jewish idea.
And also not about destroying things, but about bringing everything to its fullness of being, truth and beauty.
After all they have the same Bible as the basis for their beliefs so Christians need to try to find a way to interpret Isaiah 11:6-9 too.
I talk about that here:
BLOG: Why you can ignore all date setting prophecies based on the Bible - no dates in it
https://debunkingdoomsday.quora.com/Why-you-can-ignore-all-date-setting-prophecies-based-on-the-Bible-no-dates-in-it
So Pope Francis sees Jesus return as something wonderful not something to be scared of.
In the far future once the work of the church is done. Leading to a time of amazing peace.
Other Christians see it as not about time and that vision of the future as something you can glimpse right now and don’t need to wait for. Or as something that already happened or as a kind of allegory or metaphor or image.
So there are many views and only a very small fraction of Christians globally see it as both literally true and near future.
Even in the Abrahamic religions, Judaism beliefs are in an future of endless peace not an end of the world for Jews that take those beliefs literally.
Many Jews don’t take them literally and that also is true of Christianity, many Christians don’t take the end times predictions in the Bible as about a literal future but have many other ways of interpreting them.
As for other religions, then though almost all religions have some form of world origin story, there are many religions that have no world ending story.
Most Indian religions have vast timescales not unlike our astronomical timescales over which worlds / universe end but as part of a cycle where new worlds or universes are born again.
BLOG: Many religious views about the world ending or not
You can read it here: https://debunkingdoomsday.quora.com/Many-religious-views-about-the-world-ending-or-not
There is no astronomical or scientific reason why our world would get uninhabitable for humans in less than hundreds of millions of years even then a civilization with technology can protect our world from heating up with sun shades and even move it or we might all be living in space colonies by then.
