It’s currently at nearly a ⅔ majority for Tisza which apparently is very promising These are not final results - the seats change party as more results come in.

But at 29.21% it’s 132 for Tisza.

Gained 8 seats since 14.72% at 124 for Tisza.

It’s far too early to make any assessment but we’re now at 21.54% of the vote and so far Tisza is ahead in 92 constituencies, while Fidesz is in the lead in 13 constituencies.

Earlier, we explained that Hungarians voting in Hungary have two votes - and that second count isn’t as far advanced as the seats.

In other words, it’s still very early to draw any conclusions.

Another point to make is that the big cities take longer to report their results, while the smaller towns and villages where Fidesz is strongest tend to be quicker.

It looks very likely to be majority Tisza. :But the party seats come later after looking at how much each party has won by for each constituency and redistributing them.j

I’m not sure how the display works, if it is estimating the party seats in some way?

Victor Orban has conceded by phone to Peter Magyar.

It’s 133 for a ⅔ majority. Now at 136. France24 predicting a ⅔ majority.

At a ⅔ majority, Peter Magyar’s party can rewrite the Hungarian constitution. That is especially important because Orban’s party introduced cardinal laws, lots of laws about elections etc can only be changed with a ⅔ majority. Tisza can now dismantle that and remove all the cardinal laws.

He needs it also to remove senior officials in the courts and so on that are faborable to Orban.

Peter Magyar was one of Orban’s close allies through to 2022.

Victor Orban also confirms he has congratulated Peter Magyar and will serve the country from the opposition.

MatthewWinters Yes. Magyar is pro EU. He will immediately work to remove the anti-LGBT legislation in Hungary which will unlock funding from the EU. He will also likely unblock the EU 90 billion euros funding for Ukraine.

Hungary itself won’t likely fund Ukraine but they will no longer block the EU funding of Ukraine.

Peter Magyar appealed to younger voters.

Gosh! Orban has conceded already!

I thought, being a hard-right “strongman” he’d be challenging the results (like Trump did).

Mind you, that’s probably for the best. His party has lost, by a landslide to boot!

This gives me hope for the future. It means that even if the far-right get in, it doesn’t necessarily mean they stay in power forever.

This is so huge for Hungary and the EU, absolutely massive win for democracy and Europe. JD Vance once again did absolutely nothing when it comes to support 😂. I have some Hungarian friends and they are so excited over this win, this is so important for them!!!

Galaxy05 I don’t think that JD Vance was actually trying to win seats for Orban. I think he was literally just there to give his moral support to a friend. It probably lost Orban a few seats if anything. Vance is not an experienced politician. He won his Senate seat by less than he should have for instance.

Trump doesn’t seem to think in terms of strategies for getting votes either. He seems to have won his two elections as president by a sort of combination of charisma and luck rather than strategy, doing things that any experienced politician would tell him costs him votes. And it loses him votes in the mid terms but both actual elections for some reason those antics gained him votes both times maybe just by luck.
